50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 Moon Landing (July 21, 2019)

First day cover (click on the image for a larger image)

Transcamster Bog issued a stamp to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11's landing on the Moon. The stamp depicts Neil Armstrong's photo of Buzz Aldrin on the Moon. The stamp also has an excerpt from Queen Elizabeth II's message to Apollo 11. The Queen's message, along with messages from other world leaders, was put on a disc that went to the Moon with Apollo 11.

The date of issue, July 21, 2019, is the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong becoming the first human to walk on the Moon. But according to NASA, the crew landed and exited from the lunar module on the same day, July 20, didn't they? They did in in the United States, by landing at 16:17 Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) and with Armstrong stepping on the Moon at 22:56 EDT. However, in Great Britain, it was 02:56 Greenwich Mean Time on July 21 when Armstrong stepped on the Moon. Hence, Transcamster Bog set the first day of issue for this stamp at July 21.

The stamp is imperforate and ungummed (requires glue).
