Visits to the Guadalupe Shrines in Los Angeles (Issued on January 25, 2019)

Our Lady of Guadalupe may seem to be a strange subject for a Scottish local post, but there is a rationale for putting Mexico's most sacred image on a stamp. I visit Los Angeles, California, United States, occasionally. I've noticed that the city has several shrines honouring Our Lady of Guadalupe. My two favourites are La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles (a historic church in the El Pueblo de Los Ángeles Historical Monument district) and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, which has an outdoor shrine to Our Lady of Guadalupe and a piece of St. Juan Diego's tilma in a side altar indoors. I have long appreciated Our Lady of Guadalupe as Mother of the Americas (a title given to her by Pope John XXIII), so I visit these two shrines when I can.

Robert Burns 260th Anniversary of Birth (Issued on January 25, 2019)

Transcamster Bog commemorates the 260th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns, Scotland's most famous poet. The stamp is based on a painting by Alexander Nasmyth (oil on canvas, circa 1821-1822) which is based on a previous painting of 1787. The painting is in the National Portrait Gallery in London.

 The stamp is imperforate and ungummed (requires glue).

Brexit Vote Defeat of 2019 (Issued on January 15, 2019)

Transcamster Bog's first issue of 2019 is an unplanned stamp that observes the defeat of the government's Brexit proposal in Parliament on January 15, 2019. The defeat of Prime Minister Theresa May's government by a vote of 432 to 202 had the largest margin of defeat in British history. The proposal's defeat triggered the opposition Labour Party to ask for a vote of no confidence, which will occur on the next day, January 16, 2019. Thus Britain was thrown into turmoil without a plan to leave the European Union, just 11 weeks before the exit date of March 29.

The stamp was quickly designed by altering the 2018 Visit to London design and printed only an hour later.

Catholic Relief Act of 1778 240th Anniversary (Issued on November 12, 2018)

Transcamster Bog commemorates the 240th anniversary of the Catholic Relief Act of 1778. After over two centuries of persecution, Roman Catholics regained some of their civil rights due to this Act. Catholics were allowed to join the Army and to inherit, purchase, and own land, if they swore an oath of loyalty to the King. The stamp depicts the 12th century seal of the priory of Our Lady of Walsingham, the most important Marian shrine in England.

Glorious Revolution 330th Anniversary (Issued on November 12, 2018)

Transcamster Bog commemorates the 330th anniversary of the Glorious Revolution. In 1688, William III, Prince of Orange, overthrew his father-in-law King James VII of Scotland (King James II of England and Ireland) and made himself and his wife Mary II joint monarchs of the three kingdoms. The depicts Edward Matthew Lord's painting "The Lords and Commons presenting the Crown to William and Mary in the Banqueting House, 1688", painted in 1867 for Parliament.

For bi-partisanship, Transcamster Bog will also issue a stamp commemorating the 240th anniversary of the Catholic Relief Act of 1778.

End of World War I 100th Anniversary (Issued on November 11, 2018)

Transcamster Bog commemorates the centenary of the end of World War I with this stamp. The stamp honours a volunteer aid service that is not usually shown on stamps commemorating the First World War: St. John Ambulance. In both World Wars, St. John Ambulance sent volunteers, known as the Volunteer Aid Detachments, to Europe to aid British soldiers. The stamp's central design is a poster that appeared in the British magazine Punch.

Transcamster Bog commemorates its Laird's visit to London in June 2018. The stamp depicts the Laird and Prime Minister Theresa May (They did not actually meet, but the Laird thought putting the Prime Minister on a stamp would be impressive.).
