115th Anniversary of Science Fiction Movies (Issued on December 27, 2017)

The first science fiction movie was Le Voyage dans la Lune, made by the famous French filmmaker George Méliès in 1902. It is the first movie to show a fictional space flight, with the characters flying in a cannon-shot projectile in the style of a Jules Verne story. The title is usually translated into English as "A Trip to the Moon", though the French title implies that the travellers go into the Moon. indeed, they go beneath the surface and meet strange lobster-like aliens.

The stamp shows a famous scene from the movie: the projectile hitting the Man on the Moon in the eye.

In addition to being Laird of Transcamster Bog, I am a science fiction writer (see www.derwinmaksf.com), and thus, I am issuing this stamp to commemorate the 115th anniversary of science fiction movies.

Silver Jubilee 1992-2017 (Issued on December 3, 2017)

Twenty-five years ago, I bought the two tiny plots of land that would eventually be called "Transcamster Bog". This stamp commemorates the silver jubilee of my small estate. The photo depicts me, the Laird, wearing the tie of the Chinese Scottish tartan.

310th Anniversary of the Acts of Union (Issued on May 1, 2017)

This issue commemorates the 310th anniversary of the Acts of Union in 1707. In the previous year, England and Scotland signed the Treaty of Union to unite the two kingdoms in the following year. The 1707 Acts of Union, passed by the English and Scottish Parliaments, created a single Parliament in London for a new United Kingdom of Great Britain. The stamp depicts a painting of Queen Anne, the first monarch of the United Kingdom. The painting is by the studio of John Closterman, circa 1702. The flag shown is the Union Flag that flew from 1707 to 1801, when an additional red saltire was added to represent Ireland.

Dr. Huang Kuan, First Chinese Graduate of the University of Edinburgh (Issued on January 22, 2017)

Transcamster Bog issued a stamp commemorating Dr. Huang Kuan on January 22, 2017, the weekend before the Chinese New Year. Huang Kuan (黃寬,1829–1878), also known in English-language history books as Wong Fun and Wong Foon, was the first Chinese person to graduate from the University of Edinburgh or any European university. He graduated with a Doctorate of Medicine in 1857 and returned to China to practice medicine. Today, a statue of Dr. Huang Kuan stands on the grounds of the Confucius Institute for Scotland at the University of Edinburgh.

Visits to the United States / Obama, Trump, and Inauguration Day Cover (Issued January 20, 2017)

Transcamster Bog has issued a se-tenant pair of stamps to commemorate the Laird's visits to the United States in 2016 and 2017. The stamps depict the Laird and Presidents Obama and Trump (It is unlikely that the Laird will meet either President during his visits, but this issue was inspired by the Hutt River Province Principality's stamp commemorating Prince Leonard's visit to the Vatican, which depicted Prince Leonard and Pope John Paul II although the two men never met.).

Transcamster Bog also had a temporary office in Washington, D.C., so it made an commemorative Inauguration Day cover with the Trump stamp cancelled by a special handstamped postmark. Since the stamp was issued on January 20, 2017, the Inauguration Day cover is also a first day cover.

2017 Visit to New York / Hillary Clinton (Issued January 19, 2017)

Transcamster Bog has issued a stamp commemorating the Laird's upcoming visit to New York City. The stamp depicts the Laird and one of New York's most famous residents, Hillary Clinton, former Senator, former Secretary of State, and 2016 Presidential candidate (It is unlikely that the Laird will meet Secretary Clinton during the visit, but she is a local celebrity).

The stamp is imperforate and ungummed (requires glue).
