Eric Bloodaxe (Issued on September 28, 2024)

Transcamster Bog commemorates the 1070th anniversary of the defeat of Eric Bloodaxe. Eric Bloodaxe spent his youth as a Viking pirate. He succeeded his father Harald Fairhair as King of Norway in 931. The Norwegians soon tired of his tyrannical rule, and his younger brother Haakon overthrew him in 933. Eric left Norway and spent his time raiding Scotland and conquering Northumbria, a kingdom that included parts of present-day Scotland and England. He was King of Northumbria from 947 to 948, was overthrown, and returned to reign from 952 to 954. In 954, one of his many enemies, a Viking named Maccus, finally killed him.

The artist Tina Olah drew the artwork depicting Maccus killing Eric Bloodaxe for this stamp. It is issued imperforate and without gum (requires glue).

Cinderella philatelists will know that Eric Bloodaxe had previously appeared on two stamps issued by Lundy in 1954. This is one of them:

Transcamster Bog issued a stamp to commemorate the Laird's visit to the 2023 London Sheep Drive, which was organized by the Worshipful Company of Woolmen on September 24, 2023. The Woolmen's Company, one of the livery companies of London, organizes the annual Sheep Drive to raise money for the Woolmen's Charity and the Lord Mayor's Appeal. The Laird exercised his right as a Freeman of the City of London to herd sheep into the City across a bridge over the River Thames. Southwark Bridge was used in 2023.

The stamp depicts a photo of the group of sheep that the Laird herded.

Thirty (3) French-style deluxe proofs of this stamp were also printed on cardstock.

Transcamster Bog stamps are sold in both UK and US currencies on eBay.

Queen Elizabeth II In Memoriam CORRECTED DESIGN (issued on November 7, 2022)

click on the image to view a larger image

A collector noticed that the Queen Elizabeth II In Memoriam stamp of November 4, 2022, had a design error: the year of the Queen's death is shown as "1922" instead of "2022:, Transcamster Bog local post rushed a corrected version into production. The new stamp shows the correct year of "2022" and was issued on November 7, 2022. Since philatelists would consider it a different design, not a variety, it has a designated first day of issue and a first day cover.

Transcamster Bog stamps and covers are sold in both U.S. and U.K. currencies on eBay.
